Spring in 2026!

Wow, time flies. We are now in Courtenay, BC drying out and adjusting to the different climate of Vancouver Island. Smithers is still getting snow but our grass is green and flowers have suddenly appeared. The ocean air is close and the sense of space and wonder that the liminal coast line inspires is a welcome out breath. I am settled in enough to teach a little- We converted the garden shed into a music shed where I can literally 'shed' music without disturbing anyone. It's a great little spot to teach one on one as well with views of the glacier through the early growth of a rose bush just outside the window.

I've been hitting up the local monthly jazz jam at the Mex and getting to know some locals sat in on a gig at 40 knots winery- fantistic spot! Part of a destination for wine jazz lovers. Thanks to Mel McCutcheon for bringing in such great events and Doug Anderson for inviting me along!

It seems there are oodles of musicians here in this Valley and I'm looking forward to checking them out and exchanging more notes!
